The LIVING ANATOMY chart series was conceived and created by a collaborative group of massage and bodywork professionals including Elaine Calenda, Academic Dean, BCMT, along with colleagues Molly Babich, Beck Stephens and Jeannine Donahoe. Together they have extensive knowledge and experience in Massage Therapy, Massage Education, Zen Shiatsu, Bodywork, Health Care and Scientific Information.
In addition, the creators consulted medical professionals including John Zahorec, the creator of Anatomiken/Maniken Systems ™ and Dr. Ken Morgareridge, a long-time instructor of the system. These medical professionals really challenged the chart designers and illustrators to meet the most stringent ‘rules’ of modern anatomy.

ANATOMY OR ART
WHY NOT BOTH?
The standard (and still most commonly sold in the US) anatomy chart has not changed since 1947. It depicts a male figure drawn from a cadaver in ‘anatomical position’ (which is straight on arms down hands open to the front). The skeletal chart is similar.
Both LIVING ANATOMY charts function as practical learning and reference tools and as aesthetically pleasing artwork. These anatomical charts blend art and science for a renewed vision of the beauty, form, and function of the human anatomy.
