Welcome to the ancient healing massage of Hawaii . . . “Lomi Lomi” means to break up into small pieces, and one of the intentions of this technique is to find congested areas of the body and disperse them through rhythmic movements. This is the dance of massage, and it is as enjoyable for the person giving it as it is for the person receiving it.
This massage DVD teaches you the basic techniques of the art of Lomi Lomi massage, including the four basic strokes. You will learn a full body Hawaiian massage, with Julie Stowell instructing and Tamara Mondragon narrating. The lomilomi technique focuses on finding congested areas in the body and dispersing them, by moving the palms, thumbs, knuckles and forearms in rhythmic, dance-like motions.

In 1803 Archibald Menzies wrote, "A number of natives placed themselves around us to lomilomi and pinch our limbs, an operation which we found on these occasions, very lulling and pleasing when gently performed."
In 1819 a Mr. Frecient wrote, "Two females about 40 years old knelt down on each side of me and squeezed and rubbed my limbs with all their might. All the parts of the body were pressed between the hands, going from the arms to the legs and from the thighs to the shoulders. Here it is employed as a means of making people sleepy."
Lomi Lomi Massage Instructor Tamara Mondragon has created three Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Massage instructional programs - Level One, Level Two and Level Three. On this Level One program, Instructors Julie Stowell and Tamara Mondragon offer basic instruction, ideal for Lomi Lomi massage beginners. Tamara and Julie combine over 30 years of experience as Lomi Lomi therapists. Both studied with Aunty Margaret Machado on the Big Island of Hawaii. Tamara was one of her first three students, and Julie apprenticed with Aunty in l990. Together they have shared Lomi Lomi with people from all walks of life, including the L.A. Raiders football team. They are grateful to their gifted and talented teacher and continue to spread her tried, true and effective techniques with both beginners and professionals through their instructional video programs.
