Searching for a job? So are my husband and I. We’re newly married and had to relocate. So I left my full time job, but then my husband was laid off not long after. As you can imagine, this is incredibly nerve-racking which, of course, affects our sleep. Are you worried about losing your job, afraid you’ll be let go, or facing other financial issues?
A recent poll by The National Sleep Foundation showed I’m not the only one. One-third of Americans lose sleep over financial concerns. However, the poll also revealed that healthy people are twice as likely to work efficiently, exercise and eat healthier because they got enough sleep. In a time when jobs are scarce, it’s really important to stay healthy.
Unfortunately, it’s hard to stay motivated when you don’t have a place to go in the morning. But it takes even more time and effort when looking for work than actually doing the work. So in the interest of being efficient and staying productive, get some shut-eye to stay healthy and find a job.
Worrying about the economy and allowing it to steal valuable sleep won’t help, but neither will staying up all night applying for jobs. While easier said than done, getting enough sleep – not sacrificing it – will make all the difference. Think of it as a happy medium.
For some helpful sleep suggestions look back through previous posts and take action against the economy’s effect on sleep!
